Sunday Morning Coffee: Anger

It happens to the best of us.  A button is pushed; a spark plug ignites; a fire explodes within.

Logically (or not), if we are able to get the last word in, it will give us some recompense.  Some satisfaction.  Right?

Anger is that deep seeded need to prove to someone that you are right.

Anger is not about righting a wrong, it’s about making sure someone else concedes that they were wrong.

And yet, it never works out that way.  Even when it does, a concession is far less satisfying than we expect.

A friend sent me this in a text message:

If you’re right, then you have no need to get angry,

If you’re wrong, then you have no right to get angry.”

Anger is always out of control and it is never productive.

Next time the fire ignites, douse it with patience.  Control your emotions, and then move on.
